Funny Kid!

Here's what I found when I went to check if J was asleep.....

He's ditched all his proper blankets and bedding, and is flat on his back, snoring his head off, with his 'Nanny Blankie' on top of him. My Nanny knitted that blanket when I was pregnant with J. He loves it, and he was the one who gave it it's name. If he is not feeling well and wants to curl up on the couch, that's what he wants to curl up with. Incidentally, he calls that Nanny 'The Nanny with the Lollies' because she always has a wee treat there for him if we call to visit! Funny funny funny boy!

Hope y'all had a great weekend.... I spent yesterday at a crop day until about 6pm, then went out for tea with my boys (which we haven't done in AGES). It was lovely. Back to work tomorrow though.... moan, moan, groan, groan. Oh well, another day, another dollar (or two, I hope!) For now, the house is a bomb site, so I have some tidying up to do before I go to bed. First though, a cup of tea is required me thinks. I'm orf to put the kettle on... Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

My cat thinks it a dog, and Charlies Angels?

Yup, I think that my cat definitely thinks it's a dog. Look what he did to his catnip toy....

Seriously - check out the teethmarks in the poor little squirrel:

What kind of a cat does THAT? Not any other that I know anyway. Strange!

AND... Charlies Angels? Must be a scrapbookin-ladies-thing I think!
Check it out, me and Rach with NIC HOWARD! We're famous (ha ha ha ha!)

Oh, and did I tell you all to check out the weather station at the bottom of our street that Derek runs online? Have a look at his website here some time. It even has a webcam updating constantly, showing the view south of our place (and probably the impending bad weather before it hits each time!). Super Cool! I can check online from work and see what the temp is at home, which way the wind is blowing, or how much rain we have had. Man I'm a geek!

Anyway, THAT'S ALL FOLKS! I hope you all had a lovely long weekend - ours disappeared far too fast (evidently). I'm signing off now cos you're officially up-to-date. Talk again soon, love and hugs to you all...

Jake and Diezel...

Jake had his wee friend Diezel come to play for a while on Monday afternoon - talk about a laugh! They are very similar - "Have you seen this?" "Yeah, I got one of those at home" etc... Two well loved (and slightly spoilt) little boys!!! They had a great time playing with pop-up Scoop, and with Cranium Fort that Granny and Grandad got Jake last Christmas.....

They are definitely funny little dudes.... the things they come out with...

Jake: "My Dad's got a Ford Ute"
Diezel: "Well my Uncle Karl had a Holden Ute, but he sold it"
Jake: "Holden? Dirty Holden!"
Diezel: "(Giggling a lot) Well my Nan's got a Holden and it goes FAST"

SOOOO funny! Can't half guess where the family loyalties lie when it comes to the Ford vs Holden argument eh? Ha ha ha!

Well peeps, we're just about up to date, just a couple more things to fill you in on..... more to come :)

Mowing the Lawns? Already? No Way!

No Way? YES WAY! Jake decided it was time he got a turn at mowing the lawns - "if Daddy can do it," yadda yadda. Incredibly he wasn't all that bad at it. About the only thing he can't do himself is empty the catcher. I think it'll be a while yet before he's doing the lawns to earn his keep though - see the lines he's making? All over the show!!! Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

It doesn't seem that long ago that I was taking those pics where J was walking along behind Daddy with his little plastic mower - now he wants to use the REAL THING! Talk about growing up fast!

More pics coming your way, real soon... Toodles (again!) B x

Saturday's effort - part two!

The other thing I got done in front of the telly on Saturday night was this.... my Christmas Countdown canvas! Talk about quick and easy! And yes, on Sunday when I took these photos, there were only 95 sleeps til Christmas - Arrrggghhhh!!!! Exciting and scary all at the same time :)

So there's post #2 for tonight - how many more you say? Well, at least two more to come...!!!! Are you still waiting patiently?! Ha ha ha

Saturday's effort - part one

Well, as promised, here's some pics from Saturday's effort when Nic and Fiona came over. Unfortunately I spent the first hour or so they were here finishing my domestic goddess duties - emptying and refilling the dishwasher, hanging out the washing, and icing the morning tea cupcakes! Yum Yum! Anyhoo, I got this layout mostly done while they were here, finishing it off in front of the telly that night while watching National Treasure 2 on DVD (not a bad movie I might add!)

I got to use my Hero Arts alpha stamps a bit more, and two of my Stampin Up! stamps too - the library card and the admission ticket. Have to say I'm pleased with the outcome :) I have heaps more photos to show you from the past couple of days, so I will keep adding posts tonight as I get the time - if I upload direct from Picasa I can only upload three pics per post, so patience people, there's more to come....

It's Friiiiiidaaaaaaay!

It's Friday! AND it's a long weekend. AND I have Nic and Fiona coming to hang out and scrap (meaning talk sh*t , eat, and maybe create a thing or two along the way) tomorrow for a while. Excellent!

One thing I HAVE to do tonight though - find my freakin scrap table. It is currently buried under an exploded pile of scrap supplies and 'useful' things. Bugger. Don'tcha HATE that? Such is life.

Well, Jake needs a hand constructing some amazing lego thing he's dreamt up, so I'll catch you lot later....

Heellloooo!!!!

Hi there peeps, yes, I'm still here, I haven't been run over by a bus, nor have I won lotto and run away overseas. I am still here. I have just been a bit blog lazy lately. My name is Beck and I am a bad blogger. Ha ha ha ha.

I had a fab weekend in Christchurch last weekend. Did my first ever Nic Howard class. Have never scrapped so frickin fast in all my life! I think I'll apply Nic's husband's theory next time I'm stuck - "Just stick it down!" Might make life a lot easier! Ha ha ha. Have to say it was kinda weird meeting Nic in person, I mean weird in a nice way though... I feel like I know her because I stalk her blog regularly like all the other Timmers girls, but of course I have never met her in person or had a conversation with her before, so it was weird you know? Weird but great! She signed her book for me (why not, while I was there!). Cool. We even managed to drag out the several million cameras we had taken between us and roped Darryl into taking photos for us. See?.....

Someone else out there has the silly one on their camera of me, Rach and Nic doing the 'Charlies Angels' pose. Can whoever it is email it to me puh-lease?! Fanks.

After that speedy scrapping, it was time to go cruisin round Chch. We got a few messages done, had lunch (mmm love them Turkish Kebabs), and did a wee bit of shopping. Just a wee bit mind. I did buy myself a CD set - Ministry of Sound The Annual 2008 - YEAH it ROCKS! Yee-haa! Really good 'get-off-your-butt-and-dance-around-the-room' music. I can't do housework without it!

We went out for tea at the Lone Star in Riccarton and met up with a girlfriend. Food was fab (as always) and we had a great time.

6.38am. That was the time I woke up on Sunday morning. When I should have been snoring my head off. Unbe-frickin-lievable. Sooo not fair. Darryl woke up too, but then went back to sleep and HE was the one snoring. Grrrr!!! Ha ha ha. I ended up reading from about 7.30am cos I just could not go back to sleep. NOT COOL!

We watched a bit of TV in bed, then dragged our sorry arses up to shower and go shopping s'more. We had a look at the Arts Centre market, which we haven't done for AGES. Got a really cool copper heart for Ma there, seeing as she was looking after the rugrat for us.

I also got to testdrive my future next car - a wee Ford Focus. WAY COOL! You see, I always thought I wanted a Suzuki Swift, until I drove one.... then I hated it! So, my next choice is definitely a Focus. Real zippy, quite responsive, and a whole lot nicer than the Rolls! Ha ha ha. Not that THAT'D be hard!

Well, that's about all I have time for just now... Hope you all have a great day. It's blowing a bit of a southerly at the moment out there, so wrap up warm and stay safe. Catch up soon.

Two in one day!

Wouldn't ya know it, while I was telling you the last joke, I was sent this wee pearler...

Do you have feelings of inadequacy?
Do you suffer from shyness?
Do you sometimes wish you were more assertive?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist about White Wine.

White Wine is the safe, natural way to feel better and more confident about yourself and your actions. White Wine can help ease you out of your shyness and let you tell the world that you're ready and willing to do just about anything.

You will notice the benefits of White Wine almost immediately and with a regimen of regular doses you can overcome any obstacles that prevent you from living the life you want to live. Shyness and awkwardness will be a thing of the past and you will discover many talents you never knew you had. Stop hiding and start living, with White Wine.

White Wine may not be right for everyone. Women who are pregnant or nursing should not use White Wine. However, women who wouldn't mind nursing or becoming pregnant are encouraged to try it.

Side effects may include dizziness, nausea, vomiting, incarceration, erotic lustfulness, loss of motor control, loss of clothing, loss of money, loss of virginity, delusions of grandeur, table dancing, headache, dehydration, dry mouth, and a desire to sing Karaoke and play all-night rounds of Strip Poker, Truth Or Dare, and Naked Twister.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WARNING: The consumption of White Wine may make you think you are whispering when you are not.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WARNING: The consumption of White Wine may cause you to tell your friends over and over again that you love them.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WARNING: The consumption of White Wine may cause you to think you can sing.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WARNING: The consumption of White Wine may lead you to believe that ex-lovers are really dying for you to telephone them at four in the morning.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WARNING: The consumption of White Wine may make you think you can logically converse without spitting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
WARNING: The consumption of White Wine may create the illusion that you are tougher, smarter, faster and better looking than most people
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NOW JUST IMAGINE WHAT YOU COULD ACHIEVE WITH RED WINE!!!
NOT for children....!
Here's a wee email I received at work today (although I'm not sure how it got through our supposedly whizz-bang mailmarshal software)....
A Little Austrian Town Named . . .
The newspaper article below is even funnier than the sign!
SO....
Are the residents called Fuckers?
What are the mothers called?
What would you be learning at the Fucking High School ?
Does the Fucking Hospital help you with anything else?
If your friend came from another town,
he wouldn't be your Fucking friend.
THEN the email suggested I forward it on to all my friends who might know nothing about Fucking (!!!) Ha ha ha ha ha
Well peeps, that's all the pearls of wisdom I have time for just now. Have a great rest of your day, laters. B x
Happy Father's Day!
Hope that all you Dads out there have had a lovely day!!!!
Daz has done well this year - it's his turn to sleep in on a Sunday anyway, but unfortunately for him Jake was busting a gut to get in there with his presents for Daddy, so we woke him about 8.20am (which is better than 6.55am when we first got up!). He did get brekkie in bed though, and didn't get out of 'the scratcher' until half ten!!! The rest of the day flew by, with visiting Darryl's dad (I saw mine late yesterday), then I set to and cooked a tea of D's choice - Braised Lamb Shanks followed by Pav and Jelly!!!
Has everyone had a nice weekend? I had MY sleep-in yesterday, then J and I headed off to Chipmunks for him to catch up with his 5 year old mates who have left him behind at daycare to go to school. He had a blast. Then it was lunchtime, and time for the big grocery shop. Like I said before, we caught up with Daddy-Jim late afternoon, and after tea we went round to visit Darran and Heath for a few hours in the evening. J slept in his sleeping bag on their bed which was great.
Oh and I went to the Paper Plus Books'n Bubbles evening on Friday night, which was hilarious! Kerre Woodham and Mark Billingham spoke to us about their latest reads (well, Kerre's ONLY read) - she was funny (of course, to be expected), but Mark really was from out of left field - he writes dark scary crime novels, and we didn't realise until he arrived, he is also a stand-up comic. So of course, in light of that, he was absolutely HILARIOUS! Joke after joke, they just kept flowing. I laughed so hard I nearly peed my pants, and one of the other ladies there kept doing the laugh-snort-laugh thing, which kept setting the rest of us off too! I mean seriously, SNORTING?! Ha ha ha ha ha! Anyhoo, they were great, and for our $10 we donated $5 direct to Cure Kids, as well as getting a goodie-bag with two whole packets of Tim-Tams in it, some junk mail and a pen. I bought her book and his latest release, and got both of them signed while I had the opportunity. How cool is that?!
Well, not a lot else to report I have to say - looking forward to our trip to Christchurch next weekend, and doing my Nic Howard class at Scrapbook Art. Should be awesome! Between now and then there is more study to be had, more revision to get on with before my exams (the countdown is on now, only 6 weeks to go), and the usual cooking, cleaning and sleeping in between! I hope you all have a great week - drop me a line if you have the time :) Might go and read the Saturday paper that is still calling my name....
Well THAT was a surprise!...
...I wasn't expecting them to kill off Craig on Shortland Street last night - incredible. I kept waiting for him to scramble out of that car once the bad guys were outta sight, but nope.
I know, I know, what a sad-arse I am, but I like it! In fact one of the best things about Shorty is you can miss a week and catch up in 5 minutes :)
Righto, time to get ready to go to work, catchya later
Quick update...
Ok, so I'm still a bad blogger.... but I have decent excuses, I promise! Where do I start? Well....
Last Monday I took J for his vaccinations (during which he screamed the house down), and he was up all night with high temps and being mr-super-cranky. Oh joy.
Tuesday he spent the say with his Nana due to the mr-super-crankiness of the night before. Poor Nana ended up with three grandchildren to look after by the end of the day because S-I-L Bron collapsed at home and had to go to hospital (ok now though). Oh and he was still cranky.
Wednesday Grandad ended up in hospital with fluid on his lungs, and I am STILL coughing etc so I couldn't even visit. D stayed home with J for the day because mr cranky-pants had STILL not improved. Then, by bedtime Wed, D confessed to feeling a bit like he 'd been run over by a truck. Great.
Thursday D was worse, so went to the Dr early morning and was promptly put on two inhalers, anti-b's and steroids, as well as being sent for blood tests and told to then get home to bed.
Friday I toddled off to work leaving D resting in bed, only to get a phone call at 9am from M-I-L Kae to say 'now, don't panic, but Darryl's just getting in to an ambulance now with chest pains' Don't panic? DON'T PANIC? Who is she kidding! So off to the hospital I went (rather hurriedly). They stabilised him and we were sent home about lunchtime with advice that if he felt any worse to get straight back to A&E. Lovely.
Needless to say we had a very quiet weekend! I bought J some lego on Saturday morning which kept him amused and quiet for most of the weekend - he never even asked to watch telly once. I started (and finished) another progress review on Sunday night, just before my midnight deadline. Note to self: I must get the next one done on time, first time! And J is now calling us 'The Cough Family' as we are all doing it in some form or another - it just doesn't seem to go away.
Anyhoo, that's about it from me, absolutely nothin else to report. This weekend it's Father's Day on Sunday, so by the time we hang out with the two Dads and spoil D, the weekend is pretty much stuffed before it's even started. Oh, does anyone know what I should get for the Dads? Ideas would be great, thanks :)
Best go, catch you all again soon. Toodles, B x
